Founded in 1966, the ETHNIC ARTS COUNCIL (EAC) of Los Angeles is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to advancing the interest in and knowledge and appreciation of ethnic art. The EAC focuses primarily on the arts of Asia, Africa, the Pacific, and the Americas. The EAC membership is comprised largely of recognized collectors, active dealers, museum representatives, and enthusiastic admirers of ethnic art.
The EAC educates its members and the public on the art of indigenous people world-wide through monthly lecture/workshop programs, special curatorial tours, visits to private collections, film and video screenings, field trips, and occasional travel tours abroad. A bi-monthly newsletter highlights local activities and the global ethnic art scene. The EAC also has an active grants program for individuals, organizations, and/or local museums that support its mission.
The ETHNIC ARTS COUNCIL of Los Angeles is a volunteer-driven organization where 100% of monies raised are earmarked for its educational and grant-giving programs. A Board comprised of up to 15 members leads this premier arts organization.
